EMS Training: What It Is, Benefits, and Does It Actually Work?
EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) training is a fitness method that uses electrical impulses delivered through a specialised suit to trigger deep muscle contractions during exercise. Popular for its time-efficient 20-minute workouts, EMS is designed to activate multiple muscle groups at once and potentially enhance strength, tone, and fitness results. Originally used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, it has become a mainstream training trend in gyms and boutique studios.
Can electrical stimulation improve your gym workout?
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is a fitness method using electrical impulses to activate muscles during exercise, designed to enhance strength and efficiency in shorter workouts. EMS originated in rehabilitation and is now used in training, though it is best viewed as a supplement to traditional exercise rather than a replacement.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62887379
EMS Workouts: The Quick Fitness Trend You Need to Know About

PRACTICAL INFO
EMS stands for Electrical Muscle Stimulation. It is a form of stimulating muscles using light, painless, electric impulses. Just as our central nervous system sends electrical impulses to control our muscle action, EMS replicates this process by sending electrical impulses to muscles for the purpose of strength training and fitness. Electro Muscle Stimulation can be intensified, reaching deeper muscle layers which are difficult to activate through conventional exercise. EMS stimulates all your major muscle groups simultaneously, enabling significant results in a short, 20 minute period. EMS activates 10 muscle groups, for example lower back, stomach, biceps, gluts & thighs, this can be adjusted according to your own personal goal. EMS training is a full body workout. Over 90% of muscles are activated simultaneously and the muscle contractions are more intense than normal exercise. Compared to conventional weight training, EMS training activates more and deeper muscle groups; which leads to fast results, without the risk of injury you get with lifting heavy loads.
Vibe Body Conditioning offers a unique personal training experience. It combines the electrical stimuli into your deep muscle fibres with dynamic movements to achieve your fitness goals. Vibe Body Conditioning is an intimate one to one session within a non-intimidating studio that offers a range of sessions including body strength and muscle shaping workouts.
No. During the session, you will feel electrical impulses flowing, which is a “strange” tickling feeling, but people quickly get used to it, and many come to enjoy it. Straight after the session you’ll feel energised similar to after a hard conventional workout. If you’ve worked hard you may experience some muscle soreness (DOMS) up to 72 hours after the session.
EMS training feels like a tingle, this can be adjusted at any time throughout the session. The workout is intense on your muscles so you will feel tired after the workout, followed by some muscle ache after a couple of days. This just means you’ve worked out, and should ease with more workouts.
Recommend once a week for the first 10 weeks then no more than two sessions a week after that. It is extremely demanding on your body, and your muscles require time to recover.
A constant EMS routine and good nutrition will definitely help you achieve results. Depending on your personal targets it can also be combined with other activities.
Absolutely. EMS training requires 48 hours recovery between each session. A variety of Cardiovascular training is recommended with a workout plan advised at each session.

Sessions last approximately 40 minutes, from the time of arrival to departure. The active EMS session is approximately 20–25 minutes. During the training you will feel the electrical current contracting your muscles. It will not feel uncomfortable although it might feel a little strange the first time. Most people quickly come to enjoy the feeling of the muscles being activated.

During a typical gym workout you will on average train 1–2 muscle groups. During an EMS training session all muscle groups are worked simultaneously. This is almost impossible to achieve on a regular work out machine. More than 20 minutes is in over-training and will exhaust the muscles as they are being worked simultaneously.
During EMS training, 90% of muscles are activated simultaneously with each contraction, and the muscle contractions are stronger and more intense than a voluntary exertion alone. Compared to conventional weight training, deeper muscle groups are activated which leads to better intra and inter muscular coordination. Based on these scientifically proven facts you achieve highly effective results in a short period of time. Considering the contraction time and intensity for the trained muscles, the effect of up to 20 minutes training with Vibe Body Conditioning is comparable to several hours of conventional weight training, which in turn means quickly visible and tangible results.
